Psalm 9:1 “I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” When I was a young boy, I would sometimes go spend the night with friends or relatives. Before I left my home, my mother would always say to me, “Remember to be thankful.” As we go about our daily lives, God’s Word encourages us to remember to be thankful.
The Apostle Paul begins almost every one of his New Testament letters by being thankful for his readers. As I get ready to celebrate my first year as your pastor, I want you to know that I am thankful for all of you. I am thankful for all the many things that you have done to help me and my family feel welcome in this place.
I am thankful that this church stands on the infallible and authoritative Word of God. I am also thankful that this church has a desire to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ at home and abroad. If we continue to stand on God’s Word and proclaim the Good News of Jesus in the world around us, we will stand strong as a church in the days and years ahead.
God has done so much for us. He gives us our family and friends. He gives us food and shelter. He gives us salvation from our sins through Jesus Christ when we repent and submit our lives to Him. He gives us the freedom to worship freely in this nation. God continually brings blessings to our lives.
Praise the Lord for all the blessings that He gives to us, and may we always remember to be thankful.
In Christ’s service,
Pastor Galen
