It is Fall. That means it’s football and playoff baseball season. Many of you know that my professional life has been athletics. I have spent countless hours helping athletes and teams through the good times and bad.
For a team to be successful, it takes each position, doing their part to the best of their ability. The star player or position cannot be successful without the rest of the team. The running back cannot go anywhere without the offensive line executing their blocks. The practice player must work hard and challenge the starter to make them better.
Our church is a team. We have high visibility positions. We have support roles. It takes all of us to implement the ministry that God has given us here at the Shippensburg Covenant Brethren Church.
Ephesians 4:11-13 – It was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
As a Church, we are searching for a new pastor. God will guide us, in His time, to the right person. In the interim, we must work together to fill the void. The foundation of this work begins with prayer. This will give us strength and guidance. We must be willing to step in and help with daily ministry. Greet those around you in worship on Sunday. If someone is not there, give them a call or visit. Together we are the Body of Christ. Use the gifts that God has given you and together we will move forward building the Body of Christ.
In Christ,
Thomas Horst
